Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the Egidio application, published by Egidio — see the Legal Notice for full publisher identification. By installing or using Egidio, you accept these Terms without reservation.
1. Purpose and description of the service
Egidio is a protection application against telemarketing, spam and scams, operating on phone calls and notifications from third-party messaging apps (WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.). Analysis and detection happen entirely on the user's device; no communication content is ever transmitted to remote servers.
Egidio offers several service tiers: a free tier (calls), and paid tiers (Premium, Family) unlocking extended protection to third-party messaging apps, Family mode, and advanced features. Full feature details by tier are presented in the app and on the Google Play listing.
2. Subscriptions, free trial and billing
Some features are offered by subscription (monthly, annual, Family) or one-time purchase (lifetime license), via Google Play's billing system. Prices in effect are those shown in the app and on the Google Play listing at time of purchase; they may change, with no effect on a subscription already active at its original price.
A free trial may be offered (no credit card required), managed locally by the app. It does not constitute a contractual commitment with Google Play and ends automatically at term, with no renewal or charge, unless the user actively subscribes to a paid plan.
Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, unless cancelled by the user before the renewal date. Cancellation is done directly from Google Play's subscription settings (Play Store → Payments & subscriptions), not from within the app.
3. Right of withdrawal / cooling-off
Under Australian Consumer Law (ACL), the statutory consumer guarantees apply regardless of this clause. Where a right of withdrawal or cooling-off period would otherwise apply to digital content supplied on a non-material medium, that right typically does not survive once performance has begun with the consumer's prior express agreement and acknowledgment of the loss of that right. By subscribing or purchasing an item giving immediate access to paid features, you expressly consent to this immediate performance. Nothing in this clause excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the ACL that cannot lawfully be excluded.
For refund requests, Google Play's policy applies: support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637.
4. Limitation of liability
Egidio uses reasonable, up-to-date means to detect telemarketing, spam, and scam attempts, but does not guarantee exhaustive detection of every existing or future threat. The user remains solely responsible for decisions made following alerts or blocks issued by the app, and for staying alert to suspicious communications that were not detected (false positives and false negatives are inherent to any automated analysis).
The publisher cannot be held liable for direct or indirect damages resulting from: an undetected scam, the blocking of a legitimate communication, temporary unavailability of the service, or non-compliant use of the application, except to the extent such liability cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
5. Intellectual property
The application, its detection engine, its signatures, its interface, and its visual identity remain the exclusive property of the publisher, as specified in the Legal Notice.
6. Termination and suspension
The user may uninstall the app and cancel any subscription at any time via Google Play. The publisher reserves the right to suspend access to the service in the event of fraudulent use, a breach of these Terms, or a breach of applicable regulations.
7. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be modified at any time to reflect changes in the service or in applicable regulations. The version in force is the one published at this address; continued use of the application after a modification constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by French law. Any dispute, absent an amicable resolution, falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of Strasbourg, subject to mandatory consumer-protection rules applicable in your country of residence — Australian consumers retain the protections granted by the Australian Consumer Law regardless of this clause.
