What "100% local" actually means
Many apps advertise privacy without explaining it. Here's what it means at Egidio, word for word, as shown in the app:
Why this is technically possible
Most security apps send your data to a server to analyse it — it's simpler to build, but it means your messages pass through someone else's computers. Egidio made the opposite choice from the start: the analysis engine (Medusa) runs directly on your phone. How it works: How does Medusa work? →
No account, no ads
Egidio works with no account and no sign-up, right from install. No email to provide, no password to remember. With no account, there's nothing to tie to your identity — and with no ads, there's no reason to collect your data to resell it.
What actually gets sent?
Just one thing, and it's optional: anonymous usage statistics (for example, the total number of calls blocked) to help us improve Egidio. You can turn it off anytime in Settings → Privacy → "Help improve Egidio". The content of your communications is never part of it.

So what actually gets sent?
